How is Vedic astrology different from sun-sign astrology?

Sun-sign astrology, as published in newspapers and general-interest magazines, assigns a reading to every person born within a thirty-day solar interval. It is a convenience, not a science. Vedic astrology, Jyotisha, uses the precise degree of the Moon and the rising sign at the exact moment and place of birth. No two charts cast for different moments are alike. The system reads against the sidereal zodiac, calibrated to the actual positions of the constellations, rather than the tropical zodiac anchored to the March equinox. The result is a map of a specific sky at a specific instant, not a generalisation across six weeks of births.

Do you offer remote or online readings?

Yes. All consultations are available by telephone or video call, in addition to in-person sessions at the Nagpur consultation room. The quality of a reading does not depend on physical proximity, the chart is the same whether the astrologer and the client are in the same room or on different continents. A confirmed appointment and an accurate birth data set are all that is required.

What information do I need to provide for a Janma Kundli reading?

Three pieces of data are required: date of birth (day, month, year), time of birth (as accurate as possible, the birth certificate or hospital register is the most reliable source), and place of birth (the city or district, not merely the country). The time of birth is the most consequential of the three: a difference of four minutes shifts the ascendant by one degree, and a difference of two hours can change the rising sign entirely. If your birth time is unknown or approximate, that uncertainty is noted in the reading and the interpretation is adjusted accordingly.

How long does a reading take?

The Janma Kundli (natal chart) consultation runs ninety minutes. Focused consultations, Numerology, Sade Sati, Muhurta, Remedies, typically run between forty-five and sixty minutes, depending on the complexity of the question. The astrologer does not watch the clock; the session runs until the chart has been read and the question has been addressed. Written notes are delivered within three working days.

Do you keep my birth data confidential?

Yes, completely. Birth data and the contents of your consultation are held in the same confidence as a physician or advocate holds client information. They are not shared, published, sold, or used for any purpose other than the reading you have requested. There are no analytics on this website, no tracking pixels, and no data stored beyond what is necessary for the consultation itself. The question you bring, your sawal, stays between you and the chart.

What languages do you offer readings in?

Readings are conducted in English and Hindi. Sanskrit terminology is explained in both languages where it arises. Clients comfortable in Marathi are also welcome; the astrologer is fluent.

Do you provide remedies along with readings?

Remedies, mantra, gemstone, ritual, dietary or behavioural adjustment, are offered only when the chart specifically calls for one and only after a complete reading. A remedy without a diagnosis is noise. If the chart is strong in the area you are asking about, no remedy will be prescribed, because none is needed. The purpose of a remedy in Jyotisha is to address a specific planetary weakness or imbalance identified in the chart, not to provide general reassurance.

Two models of the sky

Scene one: Ptolemy, c. 150 CE. Earth sits at the centre of the universe. Every planet rides a small circle, an epicycle, whose centre itself rides a larger circle, the deferent. This geocentric machine, described across thirteen books of the Almagest, predicted the sky well enough to navigate by for fourteen centuries.

Scene two: The crack, Mars retrograde. Every twenty-six months, Mars appears to stop in the sky, move backward for ten weeks, then resume. Ptolemy's system could only explain this by adding yet another epicycle. The explanation worked. It was also wrong. The retrograde period is 779.94 days.

Scene three: Copernicus, 1543 CE. De revolutionibus orbium coelestium. Move the Earth. Put the Sun at the centre. The retrograde loops vanish. The same observations explained by simpler mathematics. No epicycles required.

Scene four: Kepler, 1609–1619 CE. Orbits are not circles but ellipses. A line from a planet to the Sun sweeps equal areas in equal times. The square of a planet's period is proportional to the cube of its mean distance from the Sun (T² ∝ a³). Three laws. Exact. Verifiable. These are the same laws NASA uses to plot probe trajectories today.

Coda: the nine grahas. Vedic astrology reads the same sky. The planets, Mercury every 88 days, Saturn every 29 years, follow Kepler's mechanics. Rahu and Ketu are the two points where the Moon's orbit crosses the ecliptic, the shadow grahas. The horoscope is a record of where each planet stood at the moment of birth. A position, not a prophecy.
